Hello, I'm Danielle and I was born and raised in Southern California. My passion for working in the medical field started almost 30yrs ago when I decide to open a daycare in my home in order to stay home with my infant son. That required a First Aid & CPR course for infants and children. A few years later I became a Certified Nurses Aid and started working in Acute Care, OB and ICU while I took nursing classes. My grades were so good that I was then accepted into a private university with a full scholarship and switched my major to Biology/Pre-med. As my son entered kindergarten I also became an EMT/Fire Fighter Engineer to bring income into our home. After completing university I became a part time flight attendant for Southwest Airlines leaning strongly on my medical experience to obtain my position. In 2005 I moved here to Canada with my son. Unfortunately all of my certifications didn't transfer over so I decide to open a small retail business which I owned and operated for 13yrs. I closed at the beginning of Covid and took 3yrs off to work on my art at home. Now that Covid is over I've decided to go back to my initial passion and over the past year I have become a First Aid and CPR instructor certified through the Red Cross. As I little girl I would see on TV news and commercials showing Red Cross workers and I remember having an extremely strong desire to work for the Red Cross. Now my son is almost 30yrs old and my life seems to have come full circle. I'm again doing what I truly LOVE and I'm excited and passionate now to be able to share my vast knowledge with others who are also interested in learning how to help others and save lives!

Hi, my name is Eric and I’m the other half of Dare 2 Care! Born and raised in Hamilton, I have always been involved with the many different and diverse communities in our city. I did all of my schooling here, from the primary grades at Adelaide Hoodless, to my teenage years at Westdale Secondary, and then graduating from McMaster University with a degree in labour studies and social work. I have volunteered and worked with several public organizations, including the City of Hamilton, the Hamilton Public Library, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Hamilton Health Sciences. Within these organizations, I have worked primarily with children, people with chronic mental health conditions, and have cared for older adults. Despite the years of rewarding experiences, I noticed that there wasn’t a lot of focus on teaching people how to save lives. My schools rarely ever talked about first aid, CPR, AEDs, and what to do in an emergency, not even minor things like how to treat a cut or wound. The lack of education and resources in the school system was what lead me to pursue a career in teaching first aid and CPR to others. I want to share my knowledge and training with others because I believe that everyone has the confidence and power within themselves to save a life. Emergencies can happy anytime, anywhere, and to anyone – the person that needs help could be your teacher, your grandparent, your neighbour, your friend – the list goes on. As an instructor who is certified by The Red Cross, my goal is to teach and inspire as many people as I can so that we can all feel safer in our communities.
